Lufthansa gets new media chief

Andreas Bartels has been appointed the new Director & Head of Media Relations
at Deutsche Lufthansa AG, effective 1 January 2007.In this position he will be
responsible for the management and coordination of the Lufthansa Group’s press
activities worldwide.

Bartels succeeds Thomas Ellerbeck (39), who assumed the position of Senior Vice
President of Corporate Communications & Government Relations at Vodafone D2 GmbH in
Dusseldorf on 1 October 2006. Andreas Bartels will report to Klaus Walther, Senior
Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications.

“We are delighted to have secured Andreas Bartels for this post. He has a proven
track record in communications and has gained a wide range of experience in this
field, both at the associational level and in a global corporation,” Klaus Walther
said, commenting on his appointment.

After training as a banker and completing a degree in media studies, Andreas Bartels
was appointed press spokesman at the Niedersächsischer Sparkassen- und Giroverband
in Hanover and subsequently at comdirekt bank AG, Quickborn. In 2002 he moved to
Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt, where he worked in Corporate Communications. Latterly he
was appointed as Director and Head of press and media relations in the Private and
Business Clients division.
