AirTran expands Florida offering

AirTran Airways has announced the
airline will add seasonal nonstop service from Indianapolis to three
Florida destinations, beginning in November. The airline will add four
nonstop flights each week to Miami and West Palm Beach, as well as increase
existing daily nonstop service to Ft. Myers. Service to Sarasota/Bradenton
and Ft. Lauderdale, as previously announced, resumes November 15, 2006,
with service to Ft. Myers, Miami and West Palm beginning in December.
“As the official airline of the Indianapolis Colts, we’re hoping that
nonstop service to Miami this winter will be timely, but either way it’s a
hot destination,” said Kevin Healy, AirTran Airways’ vice president of
planning. “AirTran Airways is pleased to offer our Indianapolis-area
customers more nonstop flights to Florida than any other carrier at
Indianapolis International Airport this winter and our South Florida
customers even greater access to the Circle City.”
The new flights will be served by AirTran Airways’ Boeing 737 aircraft
with seating for 137 passengers or by the airline’s popular Boeing 717-200
aircraft with seating for 117 passengers.
The airline’s service expansion from Indianapolis International Airport
is in addition to its existing flight schedule, which includes four daily
nonstop flights to AirTran Airways’ Atlanta hub, offering travelers
convenient connections to more than 35 destinations in the U.S. and the
Bahamas.
