Air Berlin enjoys double-digit growth

In September 2006, Air Berlin has again achieved double-digit growth transporting 15.12 percent more passengers as compared to the same month of the previous year.For September 2005, this figure amounted
to 1,389,084 passengers in comparison with 1,599,145 for September 2006.
In cumulative terms, for the period from January to September 2006, this
represents a 13.27 percent increase to a total of 11,747,202 passengers
(2005: 10,371,175). Due to the capacity increase, the airplanes’
utilization rate in September 2006 amounted to 85.81 percent and was thus
slightly below that of the corresponding month of the previous year
(09/2005: 86.97 percent). However, compared to August 2006, an increase of
1.36 percentage points was achieved. In total, the capacity utilization
rate for the first nine months of 2006 improved by 1.78 percentage points,
i.e. from 78.9 to 80.68 percent.

The airports showing the strongest growth for Air Berlin during the month
of September were Frankfurt (+41.29 %), Nuremberg (+22.47 %), Berlin
(+17.49 %), Dusseldorf (+17.08 %) and Hanover (+17 %) in Germany, and
London-Stansted (88.09 %), followed by Zurich (+66.04 %), Manchester
(+65.11 %), Fuerteventura (+41.78 %) and Milan-Bergamo (+31.69 %) outside
of Germany.
