In a survey of destinations receiving the most hotel room reservation requests for the upcoming Columbus Day long weekend (October 7-9), New York City’s

To compile its list of the Top 50 Columbus Day travel destinations, looked at a sampling of more than 30,000 hotel room booking
requests made by customers. Since the study is
based on actual booking requests, and not on consumer preference polls or
votes, believes the study is one of the more accurate
predictors of future travel trends. said it still has plenty of last-minute airline tickets,
hotel rooms, rental cars, vacation packages and cruises available for

In addition to the top spot, New York neighborhoods took four of the top
10 spots on the list. Several other major cities made a Top
50 holiday travel list for the first time this year, including Houston,
Dallas and Minneapolis. Also of particular interest is the strong showing
among international destinations, which took nine spots on the list.
