Qatar adds flight for Asian Games

Qatar Airways has announced plans to increase frequency on its Doha - Osaka route this winter with an additional flight ahead of the 15th Asian Games taking place in Doha between December 1 - 15.Qatar Airways, which is the Official Airline of the Games, is increasing the number of flights on the Osaka route from five to six services a week, effective from the beginning of the winter schedule on October 29th.

Qatar Airways announced the additional flight at the Japan Association of Travel Agents’ (JATA) annual show held at the Tokyo Big Sight International Exhibition Centre in the Japanese capital. The airline participated at the three-day event for the third year running with a dedicated exhibition stand.

The Osaka route is currently operated with the modern Airbus A330-200 in a three-class configuration. The First Class cabin has 12 seats that convert to 180 degree flat beds, Business Class offers 18 seats that recline 160 degrees, while Economy features 208 seats.

Osaka is one of 12 Far East destinations served by Qatar Airways - the others being Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, Manila, Cebu, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Yangon and Jakarta.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said the expansion of flights to and from Japan was just another step towards the airline aiming to offer passengers on the Osaka route with a daily service in the future.
                                                                                       
“Qatar Airways launched flights to Osaka in March last year and has enjoyed a fantastic response from customers since the first day of operations,” he said.

“We started with four flights a week and now we will be up to six services with plans to increase frequency even further. Japan is a vitally important market for any airline and Qatar Airways is extremely delighted with the success of its operations into this key business and leisure destination.”
                                                                                       

“Our passengers travelling to and from Osaka can also benefit from our codeshare services on Japanese domestic routes with our partner All Nippon Airways (ANA) beyond Osaka to cities such as Tokyo Haneda, *censored*uoka and Sapporo.”
