The Prime Minister, the Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller, will head a group of government officials signing the Joint Venture Agreement between the government and Tavistock Group for the development of Harmony Cove, a multi-billion dollar exclusive resort destination in Jamaica.The Minister of Information and Development, Senator the Honourable Colin Campbell and the Minister of Tourism and Entertainment, the Honourable Aloun N’dombet Assamba will also be in attendance.
The Agreements will be signed between Harmonisation Limited, the company formed by the government to manage the development and implementation of the project, and the Tavistock Group, a private investment company with a successful track record for creating world-class communities including the renowned Isleworth and Lake Nona Golf & Country Clubs in Florida.
Tavistock Group will join forces with Harmonisation Limited as the master developer for the new resort. Located in Trelawny, Harmony Cove will unfold on approximately 2,200 acres set on Jamaica’s beautiful north coast. Well positioned for vacation and holiday travelers, the community is just a short 30 minute drive from Montego Bay International Airport and a similar distance from Ocho Rios with its expansive port that caters to the cruise ship industry. Harmony Cove is destined to become one of the leading luxury resort destinations in the Caribbean and one of the largest and most ambitious projects ever to be initiated by the government.
“This is a very important day for Jamaica; Harmony Cove will help reaffirm Jamaica’s position as the premier, luxury resort location for tourists from around the world,” said Hon. Colin Campbell.
When completed, Harmony Cove will collectively comprise of several luxury resort hotels boasting at least 2,000 rooms, world class spa and fitness center, an array of luxury residences, multiple championship golf courses, equestrian center, water park, large scale marina with shops, restaurants, nightclubs and a wide range of amenities celebrating the best of Jamaica’s culture and natural beauty.

Tavistock Group owns the renowned Isleworth and Lake Nona Golf & Country Clubs in Central Florida, which are home to some of the world’s greatest athletes, as well as host to the Tavistock Cup, the World Golf & Country Club Championship. The private investment company is also master planning two large scale development projects: 7,000 acres at Lake Nona in Orlando, Florida, to include a regional town center, residential homes, office buildings anchored by a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility, hospital and university medical college and; 3,600 acres on the western end of New Providence Island in The Bahamas.
Tavistock Group also recently announced Albany Golf & Beach Club, a private luxury residential community on the island of New Providence in partnership with Tiger Woods and Ernie Els.
Preliminary design work for Harmony Cove is already underway and Tavistock Group and Harmonisation hope to break ground during 2009.
