Cairo’s InterConti opens new spa

28th Sep 2006

InterContinental Citystars Cairo in Egypt has added a new 3,000sq m (32,300sq ft) wellness facility called Lifestyles Health Club & Spa.
All 12 treatment rooms feature stately d├ęcor, views and individual heating, lighting and music controls to adapt the atmosphere to each client’s mood. Treatments include facials, massages and body treatments.

A team of therapists have been trained in an array of treatments from several cultures, including traditional Egyptian, ancient Japanese and Thai techniques, as well as Ayurvedic and Native American therapies.

In addition, nutritional advice is available through the hotel’s new sports bar and lounge.

The new gym is equipped with cardiovascular, weight and strength machines and includes a dedicated boxing arena, an aerobics studio offering body training systems, yoga and dance as well as the first Pilates studio in Egypt. These new facilities complement the existing championship squash courts and two tennis courts equipped with tournament seating.

David Traynor, area director of sales and marketing of InterContinental Hotels Egypt, said: “Nowadays, both leisure and business travellers are looking to get more than just a guest room out of their stay.”

The 790-bedroom hotel opened in spring 2005, complete with Japanese teppanyaki, Mediterranean and Lebanese restaurants, a coffee shop and a cocktail lounge.
