China’s air traffic grows by 14% pa.

China’s civil aviation passenger transport volume is expected to grow 14.5 per cent annually in the “11th Five-Year Program” period (2006-2010).

By 2010, the number of passengers to be transported will reach 270 million person-times, said Wang Changshun, deputy director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

Wang predicts that the total turnover of aviation transportation in China will grow at an average annual rate of about 14 per cent in the 11th five-year program period to reach 50 billion tons/km by 2010.

By 2010, the number of aircraft in operation will reach 1,543, and the number of airports for civil use, about 190.
