The Air Transport Association, which represents leading U.S. airlines, has issued
the welcoming statement regarding the administration’s choice of Mary Peters for
Department of Transportation secretary.The statement reads:

“I congratulate Mary Peters on her nomination for secretary of
transportation,” said Air Transport Association President and CEO James
C. May. “We look forward to working closely with the secretary on the
pending reauthorization of the Airport and Airway Trust Fund and in
being able to draw on her vast experience in the recent successful
reauthorization of the Highway Trust Fund. With the wide array of
critically important issues to aviation safety and efficiency, we urge
