Interstate Hotels & Resorts has announced that James F. Dannhauser has been elected to its board of directors. Until April 1, 2006, Dannhauser was chief financial officer of Six Flags, Inc., a successor company to Premier Parks Inc., where he played a key role in that company’s growth from a private enterprise with three parks to the world’s largest publicly owned regional theme park company. He was involved in all aspects of the business, in particular all capital market activities, including the initial public offering and follow-on equity offerings, bank and public note financings. Previously, he held various positions with Lepercq, deNeuflize & Co., a New York-based international money management and investment banking firm.
“Jim brings a wealth of industry-related experience and real estate and financial expertise to the board,” said Thomas F. Hewitt, chief executive officer. “His eight years of service as a MeriStar Hospitality board member means that he already is very familiar with our company and able to make an immediate contribution. We also will benefit from his substantial background in finance as we continue to execute our strategies of internal growth and selective acquisitions, both in joint ventures and wholly owned.”
Dannhauser was elected to serve as the chair of the corporate governance and nominating committee and as a member of the compensation committee of the board.
Dannhauser served on the board of MeriStar Hospitality from 1998 until that company’s acquisition by affiliates of the Blackstone Group in May 2006, and as chairman of its audit committee. He also is a board member of Lepercq, Inc. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lehigh University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Harvard Law School.
