Dhillon provides counsel at US Airways

US Airways Group has announced that Janet Dhillon has been named senior vice president and general counsel, effective Sept. 1, 2006.The appointment is subject to board approval and Dhillon replaces Jim Walsh, 58, who is retiring from his position as general counsel with the airline. In her new position, Dhillon, 44, will oversee all aspects of the airline’s legal affairs. She will retain her position as the company’s Compliance Officer.

“We are extremely grateful to Jim for his contributions at the former America West and now the new US Airways,” said Chairman, President and CEO, Doug Parker. “Jim’s provided solid legal counsel and guidance during our merger. He has also built a first class legal team at our new airline and Janet’s promotion is the culmination of that work. Janet brings extensive securities law knowledge, corporate governance experience as well as solid business acumen and knowledge to our team and we look forward to her continued contributions in this expanded role.”

Dhillon joined US Airways in August 2004 as a managing director in the legal department. She was promoted to vice president, deputy general counsel in January 2005. Prior to joining US Airways, Dhillon was with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in its Washington, DC and Los Angeles offices. Dhillon is a 1984 Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Occidental College. She graduated from UCLA Law School in 1991 with the Order of the Coif distinction.
