Riu Hotels continues was ranked by HOTELS magazine as the 28th-largest hotel group in the world. The publication compiles a list of the 300 largest names in the industry annually. Riu Hotels finds itself in the elite top-30 chains despite rapid growth throughout the industry. “We will continue to expand organically,” says Luis Riu, CEO and owner of Riu Hotels & Resorts. “It is our goal to reinvest our earnings in the development of new resorts, focusing especially on the beautiful beaches of the Caribbean.”

For its annual Giants list, HOTELS gathers data through a questionnaire sent to all names in the industry. Each company is asked to report its number of guest rooms and hotels as of December 2005.

HOTELS magazine, the official publication of the International Hotel & Restaurant Association, is the most influential publication in today’s global hotel marketplace. Serving 170 countries, the magazine reaches about 62,000 hotel owners, managers and other key players in the sector.
