PlanetHospital extends American reach

Medical tourism company, PlanetHospital has announced expanded program options in Panama and Costa Rica. “Our ongoing quest to identify locations outside the United States for
quality, lower cost healthcare services has led us to destinations that
meet our stringent criteria,” explains Rudy Rupak, CEO of
PlanetHospital, citing Pacifica Hospital, Panama, affiliated with Johns
Hopkins, and with three modern, private hospitals in Costa Rica, as well
as various US-trained and English speaking physicians and dentists
practicing in Costa Rica.

Richard Feldman, MBA, was named as manager of the Costa Rican program.
Feldman has worked for several national hospital management companies in
the U.S., earning awards for outstanding leadership and clinical
excellence. In CR, he served as Director of Operations for Hospital CIMA
San Jose, the only private hospital in CR accredited in quality
processes by the Ministry of Health.

Juan Diego Rodriguez leads the Panamanian operations. An entrepreneur
who has specialized in developing companies in emerging markets,
Rodriguez manages the financing for the modernization and expansion of
the Panama Airport.

“Today, international travel is easy and affordable, and many countries
offer advanced technology accompanied by high standards of care,” says
Rupak. “As individuals as well as employers who are underwriting the
cost of medical care weigh their options, they are turning to these less
expensive settings.”

Panama and CR extend PlanetHospital’s worldwide accredited hospital
network and its extensive roster of experienced physicians, many of whom
are U.S. or UK board certified or Joint Commission International (JCI)
accredited.

“Our reliance upon doctors and nurses to deliver and coordinate services
clearly positions the PlanetHospital platform as a safer alternative to
other medical tourism companies that perform a purely travel agency
function,” concludes Rupak.
