New airport website takes off

A new website is launching for people flying into and out of Nottingham East Midlands Airport (NEMA).

The new site at www.nottinghamema.com has been given a whole new look and is packed with invaluable information to ensure the journey to and from the Airport gets off to a flying start. Customers are able to pre-book car parking on-line with discounts of up to 35% on gate prices. They are able to buy foreign currency with 0% commission and no delivery fee for orders over £300 and book the Executive Lounge in the terminal. Also new, the Airport offers a way of booking holidays on-line with prices starting from under £100 per person, with a dynamic packaging system used which utilises the lowest possible air fare at all times. Prices are based on a 2 night inclusive break including travel insurance. There is also a listing of ‘late deals’ and ‘hot holiday offers’ available from Nottingham East Midlands Airport which is constantly updated to provide the best value breaks to our customers.

Features of the new site includes real time flight arrival and departure information, full listings of all destinations available and tour operators and airlines, a virtual tour of the Airport including where to eat and shop. Job vacancies are listed and public transport information is provided to help our customers find their way to the Airport. Visitors to the site can also register to receive regular mailings, updates and offers. There are sections dedicated to the environment and community including the ability to download application forms for the Airport Community Fund. The site is packed with other interesting and useful information, including a potted history of the Airport detailing its use in wartime years, post-war Air Force use, and the transfer to civil use, news, statistics and exciting plans for the future.

Penny Coates, Managing Director, Nottingham East Midlands Airport said, “The introduction of our new website is part of the Airport’s continued development and we are really pleased with the end product.  The site is much more user friendly and is packed with all the information customers need to know about the Airport and its services. The Airport has gone through some significant changes over the last few years, and will become even more successful as the business expands and the Airport facilities develop.  I feel that the new website now reflects these changes”.

She continued, “The next phase of our investment programme is underway with a complete revamp of the terminal during the winter period which is all part of our commitment to give customers the kind of quality experience they obviously expect—and deserve.”

The Airport has committed to provide all users, including those with disabilities, a functional, accessible and interactive web-experience. The website is a Browsealoud speech enabled site. Browsealoud is a solution that allows visitors the option of having website content read to them. As the website visitor moves the cursor over text, it is spoken aloud. Browsealoud is free to download and you have control over the voice, word pronunciations and speech highlighting.

Derby based web developers Iogen have been working closely with the Airport to provide the new look, content, content management system and e-commerce solution for the website www.nottinghamema.com. Established since 2000, the company has been the preferred web developer of the Airport for a number of years.

Development of the website will continue over the next few months to provide visitors with the facility to book accommodation near and around Nottingham East Midlands Airport and the ability to advertise holiday homes and other products via the website.
