Accor is appointing Ian Butlin as Marketing Manager for Sofitel, Mercure and Novotel hotels in the UK. A business graduate of Hallam University, Sheffield, Ian began his career in advertising working on a range of household FMCG brands before moving below-the-line with KLP and The Marketing Store Worldwide. In 1999 he was appointed as the first regional Marketing Director for the London region for Hilton International - overseeing the international marketing of twelve four and five star hotels as well as launching Hilton’s first boutique hotel - ‘The Trafalgar’. Following the success of the SOLT endorsed Hilton Theatre Breaks programme - Ian became the inaugural Marketing Director for English National Ballet developing high profile partnerships with The Times and Classic FM.

He then spent a number of successful years as a freelance marketing consultant. Ian has now returned to the hotel world as Marketing Manager for three of Accor’s high end brands in the UK. Sofitel, the 5 star luxury brand, Mercure, the mid market brand of which there is only one hotel at London City Bankside and Novotel, the mid market brand that has recently been awarded the prestigious title of AA Hotel group of the year 2005.
