Hotel chains target Bratislava

24th Jul 2006

Bratislava is finally going to have some more comfort in offer, to satisfy chiefly demanding tourists. The Kempinski luxury hotel chain plans to open a five-star hotel, the first of the top-rankcategory in Bratislava. The hotel should be standing in two years, reports Hospodarske noviny daily on Friday.

The good news is that other international hotel chains, likeSheraton and Hilton, are also considering building new hotels inBratislava at both river banks of the Danube.

However, the current accommodation offer in Bratislava is verypoor in comparison to what Prague has in offer in this respect.
While in Prague tourists can chose among 483 accommodation facilities, Bratislava can offer them only 71 hotels, hostels and apartments. But the number of tourists that used to make a short rest in Bratislavais rising every year. “Sometimes, at the peak of tourist season, hotels in Bratislava are almost fully booked,” Bratislava Town Hallspokesman Milan Vajda said.

Therefore the municipal authorities are looking forward to thenew hotel chains arrival, especially if there are only four-starhotels in Bratislava now. The best clients - wealthy businessmen andorganisers of congresses - prefer five stars hotels, indeed.
