Berkshire’s landmark hotel launched

Reading’s landmark hotel has recently undergone a major refurbishment programme. Formerly the Holiday Inn Reading, the £6.5m investment has assured the prominent property the prestigious Crowne Plaza status.

The Crowne Plaza Reading becomes part of a global portfolio of upscale and award-winning hotels and is set to assert itself as one of Berkshire’s leading business and leisure destinations.

Positioned on the banks of the River Thames, the Crowne Plaza Reading now offers style-savvy guests a contemporary space in which to relax and unwind amongst tranquil surroundings. An ideal venue for business events or a calming base from which to explore the contrasting landscapes of the River Thames, the hotel offers attentive yet unassuming service levels coupled with sophisticated interior styling.

All 122 bedrooms have been refurbished and offer sleek spaces designed with today’s traveller in mind: air-conditioning; hi-speed internet; on-demand digital movies; and indulgent bathroom toiletries. Crowne Plaza Club rooms offer regular guests those additional facilities and amenities associated with a leading global hotel chain, including exclusive access to the Club Lounge where complimentary breakfasts and drinks are available.

High specification conference and event facilities are also available, from discreet boardroom meetings to high-energy company powwows.  With its commanding views over the Thames, the hotel is also ideal for private events, from milestone birthdays to weddings and civil partnership ceremonies.

For business brunches, ladies who lunch or an intimate dinner-à-deux, the new Bankside Brasserie offers a casual dining experience with menus using well-sourced local produce.

Neil Muir, General Manager, said: “This is one of the largest hotel investments in Reading this year and is testament to the demand for upscale properties.  Our unique location, coupled with our enhanced service and product offering means that our current clients will relish the changes and potential clients will be keen to try us out.”
