$10 mn spa opens at Coeur d’Alene
Surrounded by 140 acres of wilderness on pristine Lake Coeur d’Alene in northern Idaho, the highly anticipated Spa at The Coeur d’Alene Resort has made its debut. The 15,000-square-foot spa is the work of a team of spa visionaries, including noted designer TAG Galyean, whose passion for The Resort’s extraordinary lakefront location inspired everything from spa interiors to operation.
The $10 million spa features the acclaimed $100,000 SilverTAG Shower, the region’s first medi-spa, as well as a private grooming enclave exclusively for men, equipped with a Ferrari-red leather barber chair, and treatments derived from the surrounding nature.
A collection of carefully researched, indigenous “Oh” (only here) spa experiences draws the outdoors in. Relying on the medicinal value of Idaho’s fragrant spruce, cedar and mineral-rich lake algae to soothe and revitalize, the Spa’s unique treatments for men and women include wraps, exfoliations, massage, facials and hydrotherapy baths. Among the new signature treatments are:
Spruce & Cedar Vitality Bath - TAG’s Signature FlowThru Tub and the essence of Idaho’s fragrant forests of spruce and ancient cedar create a bath experience with medicinal value to soothe to nerves and improve circulation.
Forest Mineral Scrub—Deeply exfoliating, this fragrant Forest Mineral Scrub with essence of spruce and exfoliating mineral salts invigorates and smoothes the entire body for a refreshing body wellness adventure.

Mountain Lake Natural Spirulina Wrap—Using all-natural pure lake algae, this wrap imparts essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids to nourish and revitalize the body for ultra-revitalized skin.
Comprising two levels, the Spa overlooks the lake and features 21 treatment rooms (including a couple’s treatment suite) and eight manicure/pedicure stations (many with floor-to-ceiling lake views), separate men’s and women’s dressing lounges and salons for men and women. A glass conservatory-style Quiet Room with fireplace and glass roof overlooks the 25-mile-long lake.
To create a true sense of place, Galyean turned to the Idaho’s indigenous textures, including stone, river rock and red cedar, to create a dramatic and welcoming retreat that evokes a sense of the surrounding wilderness throughout. The resulting overall ambiance of the Spa is inherently sensual and unpretentious, a perfect complement to The Coeur d’Alene Resort itself.
The Essential Element
Water is the focal point and central focus of the Spa, evident in abundant lake views, interior waterfalls that reverberate and reflect throughout the Spa and the TAG Signature hydrotherapy treatments. Believing that all massage therapy should be preceded by hydrotherapy, the Spa has made an extraordinary investment in the industry’s finest hydrotherapy equipment, including the ground-breaking $100,000 SilverTAG shower, which features varying water temperatures, up to 30 shower frequencies and 18 showerheads that work simultaneously on six zones of the body. Complete with touch-screen controls, the computer-operated shower executes a precise program of hydrotherapy. The spa will also have four TAG Signature FlowThru Tubs and a new line of TAG hydrotherapy products.
“In the same way that the resort’s extraordinary ‘Floating Green’ redefined the term ‘water hazard’ for today’s golfers, the Spa will propel The Coeur d’Alene Resort to the forefront of every savvy traveler’s spa destination map,” said Galyean. “It will be, quite simply, the Northwest’s best spa.” Considered the country’s most accomplished and talented spa designer, Galyean is credited with intuitive spa designs that succeeded in elevating the spas of The Greenbrier in West Virginia, The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and The Lodge at Pebble Beach in California onto the national stage.
A Medi-Spa and Men-Only Treatment Area
The Spa will break new ground by introducing the area’s first medi-spa, the adjacent Lakewood Aesthetic Center. The region’s leading practitioner of medically supervised cosmetic treatments will offer the full range of cosmetic services, from laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation to Restylane , Botox and collagen treatments.
Private Barber
For men only, the Spa features a private barber area. Complete with a Ferrari-red Italian leather barber chair, woven black-leather wall paper and a custom-designed mirror with a TV built in, this very masculine space is ideal for men’s haircuts, scalp massage and soothing hot towel treatment. The barber area also offers express manicures, pedicures and shoe shines.
Spa packages for women and men are available ranging in length from 100 minutes to six hours. The Spa also features a retail boutique.
Situated in one of the nation’s natural year-round playgrounds, the 337-room Coeur d’Alene Resort is 100 miles south of the Canadian border and only 31 miles east of Spokane, Wash. and the Spokane International Airport, which services 290 arriving and departing flights daily.
