InterConti Dubai scoops 20 food medals

With the annual Dubai Summer Surprises in full swing Food Surprises week proved successful with 20 of InterContinental Dubai’s chefs participating in events from Fruit, Vegetable and Ice Carving displays to the best display of local Emirati cuisine. Rovart, who has been InterContinental Dubai’s dedicated artist for the past six years, won a Gold medal in the ‘Fruit and vegetable carving category’; for carving two fighting devils out of pumpkin and using nothing more than knives and a spatula.
The ‘Team Ice-Carving’ event allowed Rovart and his team member Leo to again show their skill and collect another Gold medal by carving an Indian made only of ice.

Chef Uwe Micheel who led the team of 20 said “this is such a fantastic achievement, for such a small and young team, despite this being some of the chefs first DSS event we still came out one of the best. Each year Food Surprises is becoming increasingly competitive but that doesn’t seem to hold any of the team back, I am proud of how hard they have all worked for this deserved achievement”.
