French group wins Oman airport contract

6th Jul 2006

French engineering and infrastructure specialist Airport de Paris Ingenierie (ADPi) has won a contract to provide project management consultancy services linked to the development of the Seeb and Salalah airports. The contract award, valued at RO7.7 million ($US20 million), marks a key step forward in the government’s plans to expand and modernise the two airports at an estimated cost of hundreds of millions of dollars.

A major expansion of these international airports is regarded as imperative if the country is to keep pace with the burgeoning growth in airline and passenger traffic.

Traffic volumes are projected to rise dramatically as a number of ambitious tourism, industrial and economic projects come on stream around the Sultanate in the next few years.
