The Clarion Hotel Stockholm has been awarded the International Hotel of the Year award during the Choice Hotel’s annual convention last month in Nashville, Tennessee.
“As an International Hotel of the Year winner, the Stockholm Clarion Hotel is one of the ‘best of the best’ within the Choice system and is the best within the more than 111-strong international Clarion brand,” said Bruce Haase, senior vice president, international. “The hotels selected as International Hotel of the Year winners represent the properties that best portray a positive image for the brand, are active participants within the system and are most committed to customer satisfaction.”
Choice Hotels annually presents the International Hotel of the Year to hotels that demonstrate lodging excellence. For the international awards, the best of each brand is selected by reviewing Quality Assurance Review scores, which cover a variety of categories including maintenance, cleanliness and branding. Winning hotels must have been a part of the Choice system for more than a year.
“Not only are we Stockholm’s largest hotel, but in the three years of our existence, we have continuously grown, both in market shares and turnover by delivering first-class service to all our guests and customers,” said general manager Jan Berggren. “Within Clarion we have implemented a customer service action plan called ‘Attitude at Clarion,’ which focuses on delivering style, effectiveness and consideration to our guest using energy, courage and enthusiasm. This service plan has created a high-level of customer service that distinguishes our personnel from other hotels.”
The 531-room Stockholm Clarion Hotel, which opened in May 2003, is located at Ringvagen 98, Stockholm, Sweden, in the trendy area of Sodermalm, providing easy access to theaters and a variety of local shops and restaurants. The hotel offers guests and visitors an on-site restaurant and two different lounges, and is near several popular attractions including the Royal Opera, Casino Cosmopol, the Royal Palace and the Stockholm Globe Arena, the largest spherical building in the world.
“Aside from our exceptional customer service, sales and marketing is a very important department within the Hotel,” Berggren added. “Our sales team consists of a Director of Sales, International Leisure Sales Manager, International MICE Sales Manager, Nordic MICE Sales Manager and a Corporate Sales Manager. We also have a six-member team that is dedicated to in-house sales as well as a Revenue Manager and a Marketing Manager.”
The Stockholm Clarion Hotel offers a number of full-service features and amenities including banquet and meeting rooms, saunas, valet parking, a free full breakfast, currency exchange, coffee shop and wireless Internet. All guestrooms include room service, wake-up service, Internet connections and cable or satellite television. Some rooms offer private balconies, irons and ironing boards, robes, hair dryers and in-room safes.
