28th Jun 2006

According to the Scottish Daily Record newspaper, Paris Hilton was refused a discount at at the Hilton hotel in Glasgow. The heiress, socialite and great-granddaughter of the Hilton chain’s founder was taking part in a radio show wind-up.

She telephoned the Glasgow Hilton to reserve a room and was told by the reservations clerk: ‘That is the cheapest rate I have available to me.’’

The prank was aired on the Real Radio Breakfast Show Tuesday morning.

Paris was asked by clerk ‘Kevin’’ whether she had a corporate rate at the hotel and was offered a standard queen room for £170.

A Hilton spokeswoman told the UK Press Association: ‘Being such a busy hotel no discount rate was able to be offered at the time.’’

“We’re really happy about the Hilton’s popularity with celebrities, and Paris is certainly one of them,’’ she added.
