Namibia to host Africa tourism meet

Namibia will play host to a unique tourism investment conference on 3-6 October 2006. Sponsored by ESIPP (EU-SADC Investment Promotion Programme), this high profile event will showcase tourism partnership opportunities in the 14 countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, for a select audience of international companies from the EU and SADC countries.

The event will attract delegates from over 30 countries attesting to the continued strong interest in Southern African tourism.

The meeting will be the culmination of months of hard work by Emerging Markets Group (EMG) to bring together two key parties: tourism development projects within the SADC region that require international expertise and assistance and potential business partners or investors.

These potential business partners include hotel operators and hospitality suppliers, financial institutions, construction companies, tourism attractions and leisure companies, IT services, property developers, aviation and other transport companies.

The three-day meeting will enable participants to get a unique insight into the outlook for Southern Africa tourism for the years ahead by meeting with and hearing from private sector organisations, political influencers, top-level policy makers and Public Sector Agencies organisations.

The meeting will also provide a platform to have one to one meetings to exchange ideas, develop new contacts and participate in informed, impartial and leading edge discussions through the interactive panel discussions and special focus workshops.

EMG are actively encouraging tourism businesses to take advantage of participating in Tourism2006 by providing consultancy assistance to identify and set up meetings with suitable potential business partners. EMG anticipate that the event will lead to the opening up of new markets, joint ventures or equity participation, marketing and management agreements, training programmes, the provision of consultancy services, the transfer of technical know-how and other commercial agreements or business contracts.

There is no cost to participate at the Tourism2006 event, held at the Windhoek Country Club Resort, and for further details on the event including how to apply, preferential flight and accommodation arrangements etc please refer to the Tourism2006 website -

If you are interested in learning more about the tourism projects identified across Southern Africa, please contact EMG and let them know in confidence what type of business opportunity and partners you are interested to pursue.

Their team will then be able to notify you which suitable projects they already have identified or can start searching on your behalf.
