Radisson hotels enjoy Presidents Award

Five Radisson hotels in the Asia Pacific region have received Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific’s prestigious President’s Award, given to its top-performing hotels and resorts based on performance in 2005. The hotels were among 68 of the best properties selected from the more than 200 Radisson hotels in Asia Pacific, the Americas and a portion of the United Kingdom.

In addition, two Asia Pacific hotels were named Hotel and New Hotel of the Year 2005 for recognition of outstanding quality of product and service. Also among the award recipients during the recent Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific conference were General Manager and Director of Sales & Marketing of the Year for the Asia Pacific region.

Commenting on the prestigious awards, Paul Kirwin, president and managing director, Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific, explained, “The President’s Award represents the best of the best and recognises the hotels that have demonstrated their exceptional commitment to guest service and product quality, characteristics that distinguish Radisson in the global marketplace.”

The winners of the President’s Award were chosen based on their alignment and contribution toward the brand’s guest-focused mission. The vision states that Radisson is to be a global hotel company distinguished by: great places in great places, a recognized and trusted brand, building valuable relationships with the guests it serves and achieving superior returns for owners and investors.

This year’s Asia Pacific President’s Award winners are:

- Radisson Playford Hotel & Suites Adelaide

Double commendations went to the Radisson Hotel Chennai with it being awarded Hotel of the Year 2005, recognising excellence in standards of service and operations supported by outstanding performance in the areas of revenue generated per available room (RevPAR), customer satisfaction, employee engagement and Quality Assurance standards. Known as an airport lifestyle hotel, the Radisson Hotel Chennai consistently sets high standards in Food and Beverage and is recognised for creating a positive work environment for its employees. The hotel is also known for its commitment to the environment and has over the years undertaken pioneering work in community service.

Renowned for its distinctive design, the Radisson New World Shanghai the largest hotel within the Radisson brand in China, was named New Hotel of the Year 2005. This award is evidence that since opening twelve months ago, the Radisson New World Shanghai has consistently met its goals in providing a quality product and service, meeting brand standards and financial results.

Instrumental to achieving this has been the Radisson New World Shanghai’s director of sales and marketing, Doris Hui, and her efforts have been recognised by being named Director of Sales and Marketing of the Year. In addition to contributing to the brand and service of the hotel, Doris has effectively managed a team of 19 that has required her to motivate and develop her employees along the way.

Commenting on the win, Maurice Cook, General Manager of Radisson Hotel Shanghai New World, said, “Our intention from the outset with the Radisson Hotel Shanghai New World was to provide our guests with an experience unique to the China market. The Radisson’s ‘Yes I Can!’ service philosophy and the ability to make our guests as comfortable as possible by providing the best service and the best facilities is obviously working well.”

Another hotel demonstrating its winning formula in providing a unique offering to guests is the Radisson Resort Gold Coast. Not only did it pick up a President’s Award but Gerard Knight was named General Manager of the Year. With more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, Gerard has been at the helm of the Radisson Resort Gold Coast for the past two years and in that time has driven the business in terms of outstanding revenue and profit performance, planning and operations, as well as leadership and training achievements. Situated at the Southern end of the Gold Coast, Gerard and his team at the Radisson Resort Gold Coast have worked hard to develop the brand as one that is well recognised and regarded by the region’s golfing and business community.
