Traffic rises for Austrian Airlines in May

The traffic result of the Austrian Airlines Group for the first five months of 2006, measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) on scheduled services, increased by a substantial 17.6%.Available seat kilometers (ASK) expanded by 12.7% compared to the same period in 2005.

In comparison with 2005, the passenger load factor on scheduled flights improved by 3.0 percentage points to reach 72.0%.

With an approximate total of 3.93 million passengers, 12.2% more passengers were carried on scheduled and charter services than in the same period last year.

The revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) that were sold on scheduled services in May increased by 8.5% compared to the previous year. In the same period, availability (available seat kilometres-ASK) expanded by 9.6%.

The passenger load factor on scheduled services, at 69.3%, was approximately up on last year level.

The Austrian Airlines Group carried around 807,000 passengers on its scheduled services in May, pushing growth again up by 11.9% as a result compared to 2005.

With a total rise in passenger volume of 8.5% compared to May 2005, the Austrian Airlines Group was once again able to post an increase. The Group carried a total of 946,000 passengers on its scheduled and charter services.
