Ctrip launches College Aid Program

Ctrip.com International has established a “Ctrip Sunshine College Aid Program” in 7 major cities in China.  The program is set up to provide financial assistance to disadvantaged yet academically outstanding students to complete their college programs.

Ctrip will donate at least RMB10 million over the next 5 to 10 years.  The program will cover 14 colleges in the cities of Qingdao, Shenyang, Wuhan, Chengdu, Xiamen, Hangzhou and Nanjing.

James Liang, Chairman of the Board of Ctrip said: “Ctrip has experienced tremendous growth in the past 6 years and become the largest online travel service provider in China.  Each month, over 500,000 hotel rooms and 400,000 air tickets are booked through our websites and call center.  We strongly believe that it is our privilege to contribute back to the society that has been fostering our business.  In the 21st century, the standard by which a successful company is measured goes beyond generating financial profits, but also its commitment to being socially responsible.”

Min Fan, Chief Executive Officer of Ctrip added: “Our program requires the benefited students to perform volunteer work or donate to education charity programs once they are able.  We hope the Ctrip college aid program will nurture a culture of charitable giving in our society.”

Ctrip has already started the selection process and will distribute the first portion of the aid beginning in fall this year.
