Mexico’s Posadas launches biz hotel chain

Mexican hotel operator Grupo Posadas SA launched Wednesday a new chain of five-star hotels aimed at the individual business traveler.

Posadas, which operates over 90 hotels and recently bought Mexicana airline from the government, plans to build 20 hotels in 10 years under its new concept, called “Lat 19” after Mexico City’s latitude. The first is expected to open in 18 months according to Dow Jones news wire.

“Many times the individual business traveler doesn’t feel very comfortable living in those big hallways, big exhibition halls and conventions,” Barrera said at a press conference.

He added that the new line of hotels would be small, high-tech ventures, with 80 to 110 rooms.
