Whittlebury Hall wins innovation award

Whittlebury Hall Hotel and Spa, Northamptonshire, has been awarded the title of Training Innovation of the Year 2005 at the East Midlands Excellence in England Awards. This is the first time the award has been given out by East Midlands Tourism and Whittlebury Hall is delighted to be the first recipient of this award.

Always the innovator, Whittlebury Hall, has recently put a comprehensive training plan into place which includes personal training passports, performance appraisals, target and objective setting within the various in-house departments. Staff training varies from college courses, NVQs, instructor led training, self managed learning to on the job training and the Training Department works with local and national training companies and government initiatives to maximise opportunities for employees, such as supporting staff to improve their English language and offering formal qualifications for non-English speaking staff.

Joanne McMeekin, Training Manager for Whittlebury Hall attributes the success of the Hotel’s training to her fantastic team and adds, “Winning this Award is an amazing achievement for Whittlebury Hall as the department was only set up 18 months ago but it recognizes the tremendous effort and resources we have put in to developing our people and ensuring that training and development plays an integral part in Whittlebury Hall becoming a leader within the Industry”.

Whittlebury Hall enjoyed further success at the East Midlands Tourism Awards and was runner up in the categories: Hotel of the Year 2005 and Tourism Website of the Year.
