Delta expands UK sales team

Delta Air Lines is expanding its UK sales team with the appointment of four new sales executives.
The appointments come as the airline launched its new services from Manchester, Edinburgh, Shannon and Dublin to the USA.
Joining Delta’s corporate sales team in Manchester as sales account manager, to support both the existing and new flights in this region is Lisa Aslund.  Lisa joins Delta from Worldspan and has more than 15 years experience in the travel industry.  Duncan McCubbin also joins Delta’s team as a sales manager for the Northern UK.  Duncan brings more than 25 years experience within the travel industry to his new role at Delta and has joined the company from the specialist tour operator, Valley Vacations where he was commercial manager.

In Scotland, Peter Divers has joined Delta’s UK leisure sales team as a sales account manager from GE.  He has previously worked at British Airways, and brings with him 10 years experience in travel industry.  Alan Hunter is also joining Delta’s corporate sales team in the Scottish region as a sales account manager from American Express. Alan’s experience in the corporate sales environment and knowledge of the local travel market complement Delta’s existing expertise in this region.

Commenting on the expansion of the UK sales team, Armin Venencie, regional manager, Sales - UK & Ireland, said “We are very pleased to welcome Lisa, Duncan, Peter and Alan to our sales team.  With the launch of our new routes, it was important for us to expand our sales team so that we can continue to provide our travel agency partners the same high level of support they are used to.”

The new team members have joined Delta’s existing sales team who have been busy this year visiting agents throughout the UK and Ireland to raise awareness of Delta’s new transatlantic routes.  Delta’s passengers travelling from the UK and Ireland are now benefiting from new services between New York (JFK) and Dublin/Shannon (launched May 15); and New York (JFK) and Manchester (also launched May 15) and Atlanta and Edinburgh (launched June 06).

Venencie added: “The new routes that Delta has introduced into the UK and Ireland not only offer convenient direct services into the US, but also provide excellent onward connection opportunities for passengers wishing to travel beyond Atlanta and New York (JFK). With the introduction of our new flights, Delta has become the world’s leading airline across the transatlantic and our road-show we will highlight the benefits that flying with us can bring to both to agents and their passengers.”
