GNER in WiFi drive

ALL eight GNER First Class lounges at stations across the East Coast Main
Line are now offering complimentary wireless internet service.

Installation and upgrading work on the WiFi service to the lounges is now
complete, marking an important step towards creating a seamless link to the
wireless internet facility currently being rolled out to all GNER trains.

GNER First Class lounges at London King’s Cross, Doncaster, Wakefield
Westgate, Leeds, Darlington, Newcastle, Berwick-upon-Tweed and Edinburgh
stations all now offer wireless internet, to help passengers make the most of
their travel time.

GNER is also speeding up the rollout of WiFi to all 41 of its electric and diesel
trains, linking London King’s Cross with the East Midlands, Yorkshire, North
East England and Scotland. The entire GNER fleet will be WiFi ready by
August - nine months ahead of schedule.

GNER spokesman John Gelson said: “The many benefits which WiFi offers
can now begin from the moment a passenger enters one of the GNER First
Class Lounges and switches on a wireless internet ready laptop.

“The computer will automatically detect that WiFi is available and, just as
happens on board the GNER train with WiFi, it will take the user directly to the
GNER landing page. From there, sending or receiving emails or surfing the
Internet is easy and complimentary to First Class Lounge users”.

Each GNER First Class Lounge offers a comfortable and relaxing environment,
including complimentary refreshments and newspapers, plus a range of
business facilities including fax, photocopying and workstations.
