Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker said the carrier may cancel an order for 60 Airbus A350 planes if the delay in supplying them is too long AFX news wire reports. Airbus is planning modifications to the A350 after clients criticised its initial design.
‘We won’t wait forever,’ he said in an interview in the daily Les Echos, adding that if Airbus can’t meet its needs the airline will look elsewhere to buy planes.
‘A delay of six months to a year would be acceptable. On the other hand, a delay of two years would be unacceptable for us,’ he said.
The order is valued at 10.6 bln usd based on the list price, which is typically discounted for bulk purchases.
