Dubai, Jumeirah backdrop to music star’s video

International recording star Ronan Keating was in Dubai during the past week making a video to accompany the release of his single ‘Iris’ that is taken from his new album, ‘Bring You Home’. 29 year old Irish born Keating has been an international star for more than a decade, selling more than 19 million albums in his recording career. He started as the lead singer of pop sensations ‘Boyzone’ before launching a globally successful solo career.

The singer came to Dubai for the video shoot at the suggestion of Jumeirah, the luxury hospitality group. Keating and his family are regular guests at Madinat Jumeirah and the singer has a strong affection for the destination.  Jumeirah’s iconic Burj Al Arab, and the desert located Jumeirah Bab Al Shams served as the primary locations for the video shoot, and key sequences were also filmed on ‘England’, one of the 300 islands that form ‘The World’ located 4km off the coast of Jumeirah.

States Ronan Keating; “The decision to come to Dubai to shoot the video for my single was a very easy decision to make. I have been to Dubai many times and in addition to being the perfect location to shoot the video, it is my family’s favorite place in the world outside of Ireland - we have been able to enjoy a great holiday at Madinat Jumeirah while making this amazing video.” The star added “As soon as the idea was suggested to me during my recent visit I knew that the result would be something special. Standing on the helipad of Burj Al Arab being filmed performing the song was definitely one of the most incredible experiences of my career”

The use of the helipad of Burj al Arab as a location follows the hugely successful ‘helipad’ publicity events involving Tiger Woods in 2004 and last year’s helipad tennis match between Andre Agassi and Roger Federer.

States Bill Walshe, Chief Marketing Officer of Jumeirah “This video has been shot in the most visually unique locations anywhere in the world, and even the unedited footage we have seen so far looks truly spectacular. We only ever considered doing this with Ronan, who in addition to being one of the most talented artists in the world, is a fantastic family man and a great advocate of Dubai. I was delighted when Ronan immediately agreed to come and film in Dubai, creating this incredible opportunity to promote our destination and our locations.” Walshe confirmed that it was the proven global appeal of Keating that enabled the one off shoot to take place and that Jumeirah is not planning to have any future music video shoots at any of its locations.

Walshe added “Jumeirah’s brand essence is ‘Stay Different’ and this unique activity is another exciting example of how we bring this approach to life.”
