Finnish national airline Finnair is to restructure its travel agency network to boost efficiency, the company told Reuters news agency on Wednesday. It said about 70 staff would be affected in some way by the changes, but did not say how many jobs might be cut.

Finnair Group’s subsidiary, travel agency Area, will sell most of its street-level agencies to another subsidiary, Suomen Matkatoimisto/Finland Travel Bureau (FTB).

Area will in future focus on electronic service channels and telephone service, Finnair said in a statement.

The arrangement will allow the companies to remove some overlapping functions and boost efficiency, Finnair said.
