Galileo taps into Da Vinci Code

Galileo International and Gulliver’s Travel Associates (gta) are offering tailored sightseeing tours in Paris and London that retrace the steps featured in Dan Brown’s best selling novel, The Da Vinci Code. The film adaptation, which premiered last week, is also likely to increase the potential demand for Da Vinci Code experiences further. The tours are made available via Galileo Leisure and gta RBS using specially packaged tours from Galileo’s sister company Gullivers Travel Associates (gta).

In Asia, Galileo and gta are organizing a series of ‘Movie Premieres’ inviting travel agents in markets across Asia to watch the film “The Da Vinci Code” at local cinemas, as part of its promotion for the Da Vinci Code sightseeing tours program. Premieres will be staged in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing and Thailand from now through June 2006.

Having sold over 60 million copies worldwide, The Da Vinci Code book has inspired tours which follow the routes around Paris and London that the book’s main character, Robert Langdon, uses as he embarks on his mysterious adventure. On the gta tours, travellers will be accompanied by a guide who will expertly show and explain the various landmarks featured in the book. These landmarks include; The Grande Galérie and inverted Pyramid at The Louvre Museum, and the Saint Sulpice Church to learn about the secrets of the Obelisk and the Rose Line.

“Once again we have been able to source topical content that provides a real opportunity for our travel agents to offer a valuable service for their travellers,” commented Enrico Bisello, Director of Product Management, Asia, Cendant TDS.

“We will continue to identify consumer trends and deliver interesting new products to the travel community,” he added.
