Opodo appoints marketing director

Opodo is appointing the existing Country Manager for France, Petra Friedmann, as Director of Sales and Marketing.  Petra has been with Opodo since April 2002, and has been responsible for launching and managing the Opodo operation in France, successfully building Opodo’s leading position in this market and recently overseeing the integration of Vivacances, the French online travel company acquired by Opodo in June 2005.

In this newly created position Petra will have overall responsibility for the brand, customer positioning, marketing, sales and revenue generation across all the Opodo markets and will report into Sally Balcombe, the recently promoted Commercial and Product Director.  Sally commented “Opodo has grown rapidly over the last 12 months, both organically and through acquisition, and we felt the time was right to expand the commercial team by appointing a European Director of Sales and Marketing to capitalise on this success. Petra has been an integral part of the senior management team for the last four years and her knowledge of the Opodo brand and strong leadership skills will be invaluable as we look to drive future business growth.”

Petra will continue to be based in the Opodo Paris office. Recruitment is underway to appoint a new Country Manager; however in the meantime Sophie Adam-Polani has been appointed interim Country Manager for France.
