Half Moon gets Anancy Children’s Village

18th May 2006

Half Moon has immortalized local children’s character Anancy the Spider Man to create a themed activity-centre that caters to children aged 3-12.

Designed in a mosaic of vivid primary colours, the Anancy Children’s Village - aptly modeled after the village concept of rural Jamaica- will feature five new buildings (targeted to children ages 0-3, 3-7 and 8-12) as well as a main building and arts and craft centre. There will also be new equipment added such as a challenger as well as more outdoor equipment such as swings, rocking horses and sandboxes.

“Anancy epitomizes the spirit of survival, wit and ingenuinity that is in all of us,” said Aram Zerunian, Half Moon’s Hotel Manager.  “Plus he’s fun, brings out the kid in all of us and his lore will resonate with the children who will be visiting the Village, especially the older ones.”

Additionally, children will delight in the Roger Rulewich-designed putting green adjacent to the Anancy Children’s Village.

Voted the most kid friendly resort in Travel & Leisure’s World’s Best series (2005), Half Moon features 402 beautifully appointed rooms and suites.  In addition to being highly suited for leisure travelers, Half Moon offers extensive indoor and outdoor meeting facilities, ideal destination wedding venues and a variety of recreational facilities.  Guests can enjoy an exclusive dolphin lagoon, championship golf on one of the Caribbean’s best walking courses, an equestrian centre, first-class tennis, a variety of water sports including diving as well as delectable specialty restaurants.
