Dubai Raffles brings in new manager

Dubai Raffles Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Mr Peter Lloyd Wynne as General Manager of the legendary Raffles Beijing Hotel.  Built in the early 1900s, Raffles Beijing Hotel has earned a beloved place in Beijing’s history as the venue for many of the city’s significant social and political events.  Scheduled to open in June 2006, the   171-room elegantly restored Raffles Beijing Hotel is ideally located at the crossroads of the famous Chang An Avenue and district of Wangfujing, and minutes from the historic Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City.  As General Manager of Raffles Beijing Hotel, Mr Wynne will lead his team to provide residents a new level of unparalleled luxury and service in one of Beijing’s most distinguished addresses.  A British national and veteran hotelier of 20 years, Mr Wynne brings with him a wealth of international experience culled from his previous postings in Switzerland, Australia, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Indonesia, India and French Polynesia.  He is familiar with managing landmark hotels and award-winning resorts in key Asian cities, including Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur; the famed Carcosa Seri Negara in Kuala Lumpur; and the luxurious Begawan Giri Estate in Bali.  Commenting on his appointment, Mr Wynne said, “Raffles Hotels & Resorts is a well respected name in the hotel industry for its exceptional standards of quality and innovative lifestyle concepts.  I am delighted to be a part of the Raffles family and greatly honoured to be given the wonderful opportunity to manage an icon of Beijing’s historical heritage,  Raffles Beijing Hotel.”  Raffles Beijing Hotel’s commanding façade and elegant interiors feature French and Oriental influences.  Reflecting the refined elegance of the Orient, its luxuriously appointed guest rooms and suites are spacious, and many offer spectacular city views.  Among the hotel’s most exquisite rooms are its five Grand Hotel Suites which are each 154 square metres, arguably the largest in the city, and nine Personality Suites which pay tribute to various luminaries associated with the hotel.
