Niall Greene has been appointed as Managing Director of Aviareto, the Dublin-based registrar for the International Registry of Mobile Assets for the air transport industry.
Niall Greene joins Aviareto with a strong track record in both general management and public affairs and in the air transport sector in particular. He gained his extensive experience at Aer Lingus, GPA Group and latterly with GE Capital Aviation Services, where he was Managing Director and Senior Vice President of Business Development.
The second appointment is that of Rob Cowan as Head of Operations, responsible for all aspects of systems operation and security. Rob joins Aviareto from the Irish Aviation Authority, the safety regulator and provider of air navigation services, where he was instrumental in reshaping the ICT department into a highly efficient and business-focused organization.
René Azoulai, Chairman of the Aviareto, said, “Our selection process was made easier by Niall’s and Rob’s excellent experience, both as managers and in their respective fields of expertise. Interest in the Registry is very high and the Board is confident that we have chosen the right people to make a long-term success of administering this vital tool for the air transport industry.”
The Registry was launched by Aviareto, a joint venture between SITA and the Irish Government, on 1st March 2006. The Registry has been enthusiastically embraced by the aviation community with more than 2,000 companies registered as users of the system. Registrants include many of the leading banks, lending institutions, leasing companies and legal firms who specialise in aircraft leasing, as well as airframe and engine manufacturers.
