Kiwi property is joining the hot lists

Rapidly approaching its first birthday, The Spire Queenstown in New Zealand is celebrating its debut on three of the hospitality world’s most influential ‘lists’.
Internationally, there is a group of ardent travellers who won’t stay anywhere that hasn’t appeared on the annual UK Conde Nast Traveller Hot List. Featuring just 60 of the world’s hottest hotels, resorts and spas, The Spire Queenstown was the only New Zealand property included in this 2006 ‘make or break ‘em’ guide.

In the company of other illustrious properties including uber-lux Aman Resorts and iconic Browns Hotel in London, Conde Nast Traveller says: “Compared with New Zealand’s outdoorsy luxury lodges, The Spire stands out like stiletto heels at a Greenpeace Rally…”

And aside from loving the contemporary designer ambience - Charles Eames chairs, Starck lamps and BeoCom phones - slinky bar and dining room, it was The Spire’s service that had Conde Nast buzzing: “Personalised service in this 10 bedroom property is a priority, and the staff are young, peppy angels who serve as your very own PA…”

Another darling publication of the ‘it’ set, UK’s Tatler magazine has also included The Spire Queenstown in their 2006 Travel Guide ‘101 Best Hotels in the World’ list. This list is pored over by the rich, famous (and infamous) and is based on the premise that “...exciting travel is about discovering something wonderful ahead of the crowd. This year’s guide will fast-track you there.” Once again, The Spire was the only New Zealand property included.

And completing the trifecta, The Spire has also made the US Conde Nast Traveler’s Hot List comprised of more than 130 hotels, restaurants and spas and judged independently from their sister UK publication.

The response to the hotel’s appearance on these lists has been immediate…

“What a way to celebrate our first year ... Our international website hits skyrocketed and the phone started ringing before the ink had barely dried! Tatler’s 2006 Travel Guide is due to be launched online this month and we anticipate even more reservations as a result. We’re just delighted that The Spire concept and philosophy has struck a chord with such prestigious mags,” said Director, Christiaan Palsenbarg.

The Spire - a small, contemporary and distinctively stylish hotel located in the heart of Queenstown, New Zealand - opened in May 2005.

With just ten carefully calibrated rooms, sleek bar and seriously fine dining restaurant The Spire Queenstown is dedicated to offering unmatched service in a thoroughly modern environment.
