Dufty takes key marketing post at bmi

bmi has appointed Andrew Dufty to
the position of general manager marketing.Dufty, 34, takes up his
position on 5 June reporting directly to commercial director Adrian
Parkes and will be based at bmi’s head office at Castle Donington in the
Midlands.

He joins bmi after four years with Barclays where he was head of brand
communication and prior to that, six years at British Airways where he
was head of sponsorship.

In his new role Dufty will be responsible for the bmi brand, covering
bmi’s long and short haul operations. This will embrace all aspects of
marketing communication strategy and implementation, covering a wide
range of activities including advertising, partnerships, loyalty
programmes, e-commerce, the flybmi website and e-media.

Supporting him in his role will be a team of 40, including five senior
direct reports. In the first instance he will undertake a complete
review of current activities across all of bmi’s marketing disciplines.

Commenting on his appointment, bmi commercial director Adrian Parkes
said: “These are exciting times at bmi and Andrew’s appointment comes
when his vast experience within blue chip companies will be invaluable.
He brings to us a great depth of experience and wealth of knowledge in
marketing communications - skills that will play an important part in
the future growth and development of bmi.”
