San Juan Marriott gets $35m refurb

The San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino has begun phase one of a $35 million renovation to keep the 32 year-old building in sync with the latest in luxury resorts. The finished product will result in a grand lobby, updated casino, refreshed ballroom, and guest rooms with a new Latin Caribbean look.

In keeping up-to-date and looking fresh, the hotel will undergo a major renovation during which time major areas of the hotel such as guestrooms and bathrooms, ballrooms and the casino will receive a total makeover.

“It is a very exciting prospect to be able to deliver a brand new room product to our very loyal guests,” General Manager Hans Georg Rohrbein stated. “Our accommodations will be tasteful and airy with a Latin Caribbean ambiance while maintaining a sophisticated delivery with the new Marriott “Revive” bedding package, flat screen televisions and other touches that appeal to the most discerning business and leisure traveler.”

The casinowill experience an expansion and upgrade starting mid-April and should be completed by early June. 

Following, the main tower will be closed for a complete renovation. The ballroom will also be getting a face-lift with renovations taking place in September and meeting facilities due for work in October. Additionally, the cabana wing, consisting of 123 rooms, will be introduced as a brand new product featuring new accommodations and suites.

Construction and renovations are scheduled to be complete by December 2006 and the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino will ring in 2007 with a brand new, state-of-the-art product.
