Qantas, Air NZ in codeshare agreement

Qantas and Air New Zealand announced they have signed a code share agreement for their Tasman routes between the two countries. The airlines said they will shortly file applications to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and to the New Zealand Minister of Transport for regulatory approval which is expected to take six months.

A previously proposed alliance between Qantas and Air New Zealand, where Qantas would have taken a 22.5 pct stake in its partner and co-ordinate trans-Tasman scheduling and pricing, was blocked by the New Zealand Commerce Commission in 2003.
