Even with 8,500 rooms still out of order, Cancun is the favorite place for vacations this Holy Week compared to other beach destinations, Mexican Association of Travel Agencies (AMAV) said. Cancun hotel owners forecast an occupancy rate of more than 90% for this season.

Abelardo Vara Rivera, former President of Cancun Hotel Association (AHC), said that a few days ahead of the beginning of the holiday, the tourist destination still has nearly 20% of its room supply available.
