New UK manager for Austrian

Austrian Airlines Alex Schnecke, 35 years old, has joined the UK team as General Manager, UK & Ireland. Alex has been with Austrian for ten years having joined the FLIGHT Management Trainee Programme in 1996.Following a period in the Interactive Sales Department Alex worked within Area Management with specific responsibility for the Middle East, Africa and South East Europe.

This was followed by a move to Area Management Western Europe with a remit to oversee airline development in the key markets of Germany and Italy.

In 2003 Alex assumed specific station responsibilities with a move to North America where he was Commercial Director for the USA and Canada until March 2006.

Alex joins the team at Austrian at the central London office (commencing 4 April 2006) as the youngest General Manager in the UK. Born in Bavaria in 1970, Alex has studied in Germany, Wales and the USA and brings a mix of experience and dynamism to compliment the existing UK operations team.

Alex joins as Austrian continues to develop its Focus East strategy with the introduction of new routes within Central & Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Far East and Australia to reinforce its leading position within the region.
