Hong Kong Express Airways has received approval to operate non-stop scheduled flights to Thailand’s second largest city and popular tourist destination - Chiang Mai. This comes hot on the heels of the airline receiving approval to operate charter flights to yet another South East Asian destination - Laoag in the Philippines.
“Building on our existing charter services to Taichung in Taiwan and now to Laoag, the addition of Chiang Mai to our route network of scheduled services is the next step in our international growth strategy,” said Simon Sin, General Manager - Sales. “Both of these new destinations are clearly aiming at the leisure market and whilst to many this would appear a marked departure from our focus thus far, it has in fact always been our plan to encompass South East Asian routes into our network.”
“Buoyancy in the leisure travel market has lead us to believe that now is the right time to prepare for this expansion and by maintaining our core proposition of convenience and comfort, we are confident that holidaymakers will appreciate an attractive alternative to what is currently available,” he added.
Slated to launch in June, the new Hong Kong Express Airways’ non-stop service between Hong Kong and Chiang Mai will follow the launch of the airline’s charter services to the Northern Philippine city of Laoag which, timed to coincide with the forthcoming Easter holiday period, commence on the 5th of April. A burgeoning tourist getaway, Laoag is an ideal destination for couples and families thanks to its peaceful beaches and lush natural scenery.
Hong Kong Express Airways currently operates six scheduled flights daily connecting Hong Kong to Hangzhou, Ningbo and Nanjing.
