Expedia strikes long-term Kimpton deal

Expedia struck a
long-term agreement with Kimpton Hotels, which gives Expedia direct
connectivity so it can provide customers with greater access to Kimpton
inventory and rates. For over six years, Expedia has worked closely with Kimpton, well known
for its boutique/lifestyle properties, such as the 70 Park Avenue hotel in
New York, Hotel Solamar in San Diego and Hotel Palomar in San Francisco.
This unique partnership gives Expedia preferred access to Kimpton
properties in key areas such as San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, New York
and Washington D.C., among other locations. Kimpton is expanding rapidly,
expecting to add several new hotels this year and likely doubling in size
over the next five years.
The direct connect technology allows Expedia access to suppliers’
central reservation systems, creating a faster transaction, more accurate
bookings and more accurate pricing. Now Expedia can operate more
efficiently, bringing value and convenience to its customers.
“Kimpton is an innovative, high quality brand. Like Expedia, it is
focused on delivering high-touch specialized services that delight its
customers each and every day. This is the quality we look for in our
partnership program,” said Paul Brown, president, Partner Services Group,
Expedia, Inc. “We are proud to work alongside Kimpton as it continues to
grow.”
“This partnership with Expedia gives us the exposure and publicity we
wouldn’t otherwise have. By utilizing the Internet channel in this way, we
reach a greater audience and can provide great service to a wider range of
travelers,” said Kimpton’s Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing,
Steve Pinetti. “This relationship represents a step forward in Expedia’s
commitment to form long-lasting and meaningful relationships with valued
suppliers. Expedia’s scale and growth help fuel the growth of its supplier
partners. The partnership is a testament to Expedia’s dedication to giving
customers unparalleled service, choice and trusted advice.”
