Travel 2 strikes gold With SAA

Tailor-made specialist tour operator Travel 2 has struck gold with South African Airways - picking up a coveted award thanks to its long-term support of the national carrier. At a recent SAA awards event, Travel 2 was granted Gold Status in the airline’s Millionaires Club 2005 - an accolade reserved for partners supporting South African Airways with substantial business and revenue.

“We are delighted to be granted Gold Status, which is a reflection not just of business success but of a wider partnership with South African Airways which stretches back many years,” said Travel 2 Marketing Director Alasdair Farrimond.

“We have invested considerable time, effort and money in developing business to South Africa through the UK travel trade and the airline has always been hugely supportive of our efforts.”

In October 2005 Travel 2 teamed up with South African Airways (and South African Tourism) to take 65 travel agents on the ‘South Africa Discovered’ super-fam trip, showcasing the airline’s product and many of the country’s key tourism attractions. A similar project took place in 2001 with more than 80 agents participating.

Travel 2 has also initiated a rolling programme of joint campaigns with the airline for 2006 and 2007, including tactical promotions, travel agent training and window displays highlighting the diversity and value for money available for visitors to South Africa.

The South African Airways Gold Status is the latest in a series of awards won by Travel 2 in the last six months; most recently the company was named Best Wholesale Operator to New Zealand in the New Zealand Tourism Awards for the fourth year running.

Travel 2 is a subsidiary of Cendant Corporation and part of Cendant’s Travel Distribution Services Division.
