Air Malta has come out tops in a baggage delivery performance poll conducted by the Association of European Airlines. The poll, published this month, covers the final quarter of 2005 when 14.1 bags per thousand passengers did not reach their destination. Air Malta mishandled just 4.3 bags per thousand passengers whilst the worst performing airline mishandled 19.1 bags per thousand.
A report by data provider SITA found that 30 million bags worldwide were lost last year. This record number is put down to airport congestion, tight turnaround times and codeshare agreements between airlines with different baggage handling processes.
Dale Keller, Air Malta’s General Manager UK & Ireland, said,“We are delighted that Air Malta has come out top in the Association of European Airlines report. At Air Malta we strive to provide our passengers with the best possible service and the results of this poll prove how seriously we take our customer care. We are proud to be the most efficient baggage delivery airline in Europe.”
