Malev in transatlantic drive

Malév Hungarian Airlines is signing a commercial contract with US carrier American Airlines, thus linking the Malev network to a range of American Airlines flights both in Europe, North America and the Middle East.
American Airlines is the largest airline in North America. It is one of the founding members of the oneworld alliance and operates flights between every important city on the continent.  The agreement between Malév and American Airlines makes it possible for customers to achieve same-day connections between many cities on both continents, and to fly both airlines with only with one ticket.
Going forward, Malév will offer special fares from Budapest to 18 North American destinations, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Washington, Cleveland, Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth with only one change of aircraft.

This agreement strengthens Malév’s position in the large transatlantic market and, in particular, supports Malév’s flight between Budapest and New York, as many of the 18 new destinations are best reached via Malév’s direct flight between these two gateways.  Malév customers to and from the Middle East will also benefit.
Beyond the core agreement, the two airlines have also implemented e-ticket capability on each other’s flights, which is a more convenient and robust option for customers.
Malév expects strong development of interline traffic, increasing load factors on Malév’s New York flight and generating additional business on Malev’s network in Europe and the Middle East.  The agreement and e-ticketing capability enables Malév’s product to appear at significantly more sales points across the globe.  The agreement with American Airlines is another important milestone toward Malév joining oneworld.
Malev in the 60 years it has been operating has served tens of millions of business and leisure passengers travelling to Budapest or wishing to make connections via its extensive network in Central and Eastern Europe.  Besides the ‘full frills’ service supplied in one of Europe’s youngest Boeing fleet; from the UK Malev also offers its customers competitive fares and a flexible timetable with double-daily scheduled flights from London Heathrow to Budapest (14 flights week) from just £92pp return and starting 1 May 06 from London Gatwick to Budapest (12 flights week) from just £87pp return inclusive of taxes, charges and full meal service on board.
