Liverpool smoke alert forces landing

An investigation is under way after a plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Liverpool John Lennon Airport due to smoke in the cockpit.Fire crews and ambulances were put on standby as the Emerald Airways flight from the Isle of Man landed.

The flight had about 55 passengers and crew on board

The Emerald Airways plane was being operated on behalf of EuroManx.

“Thankfully it wasn’t serious, the aircraft landed safely and there were no injuries,” airport spokesman Robin Tudor told the BBC.
